I just love TES iBoard. They have a new literacy section where there are 136 activities. The best part? They are free to use.

These activities range from narrative texts which explore familiar settings stories, fantasy science fiction and imaginary worlds, tradition tales fairy folk and fables, non fiction texts, phonics, sentence structure and punctuation to word work.

Familiar Setting Stories -characters, scenes and setting, story structure and pace.

Fantasy, Science Fiction and Imaginary Worlds – characters and Scenes and settings.

Traditional tales, fairy, folk and fables - characters, scenes and setting, story structure and pace. Here you can find activities about Cinderella, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks, The Gingerbread Man and The Little red Hen.

Non Fiction Texts - information text, instructional/ procedural textsand labels lists and captions.There are activities that correlate with animals and birds, card designer,getting ready for the gym, plants and trees and many more.

I love this program, it is wonderful when you want to teach your students about information reports as they have a reference book template.

Here is one that we did as a class last week. The children will be making their own this week and they will be put onto the class blog.

This is an absolutely brilliant resource for teachers and students alike. It can be shown on an IWB, or students can work from a computer. You decide which text type you are going to be learning/ revising/ teaching/ writing about. It will show you how that particular text type works and gives you examples . There is the added option of printing the examples, the organisers and writing your own.
